Celebration of PahelaBoishakh 1419

PahelaBoishakh 1419 was celebrated by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok on 14 April 2012 with due fanfare and festivity. The celebration of Bangla New Year was held at the Embassy premises with participation of expatriates of Bangladesh living in Bangkok and its suburban areas. Students studying at AIT and different other universities also attended the festivity. The program of the day included a 'BoishakiMela', a lively cultural show, and a colourful fashion show of traditional Bangladeshi sarees and panjabees. A large variety of homemade 'pitha'prepared by the spouses of the officials of the Mission were also offered and served to guests at the Mela. The programme ended with serving of 'panta-ilish' to the guests.

The event commenced with the welcome remarks by H.E. the Ambassador Mr. Kazi Imtiaz Hossain who conveyed his greetings to the expatriate Bangladesh community for a happy and prosperous Bangla New Year. At the cultural programe, expatriate Bangladeshi artists and children rendered RabindraSangeet, NazrulGeeti and folk songs. A number of dance pieces were also performed by them at the show.

On the day, the Embassy premises buzzed with the presence of the expatriates colorfully dressed up for the occasion. The expatriate Bangladesh community's large-scale participation in the event added flamboyance to the event.
