Glorious Victory Day observed in Thailand

The Embassy celebrated the Glorious Victory Day on 16 December, 2021 with due solemnity and fervour. Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Bangkok and the officers, members of staff of the Embassy, student community and local Thai people attended the event.

Programme of the Day started in the morning with the hoisting of National Flag at full mast by Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand H.E. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hye at the Chancery premises.

A discussion session on the significance of the Victory Day was held at webinar. At the beginning of the program, the Messages of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime-Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out by the Embassy officers.

The local Thai community, Bangabandhu Chair Professor at the AIT, expatriate Bangladesh community, including local leaders of Awami League took part at the discussion session. The discussants paid profound respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, four national leaders and the millions of martyrs and freedom fighters for their sacrifices for the independence of Bangladesh. In his speech, Ambassador Mohammed Abdul Hye thanked the invited guests for attending the Victory Day programme and paid his tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the million martyrs who shed blood for our victory. Elaborating the fruits of the independence Ambassador Abdul Hye highlighted the importance of instilling the spirit of liberation war among the current and future generations.

A special prayer was also offered for the eternal peace of the departed souls of the Father of the Nation and the millions of martyrs of the Liberation War.

Bangladesh community in Pattaya has arranged two special programs in observance of Victory Day on 16 December and 18 December 2021. Minister (Consular) of the Embassy will be attending these community events representing the Ambassador. The Victory Day posters received from Dhaka and special commemorative ‘Mug’ from the Embassy will be handed over to our community members at the events.
