Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok observes the 101st Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation and the National Children’s Day 2021

17 March 2021, Bangkok: Children of the Bangladesh community living in Thailand and Cambodia expressed their affection to their beloved leader on his 101st birthday. An elaborate programme was organised by the Embassy of Bangladesh, Bangkok to observe the 101st birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day 2021 involving the young members of the Bangladesh community today.

The programme of the day started with the hoisting the National Flag in full mast by H.E. Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand and Cambodia Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hye. A special prayer was offered for the Father of the Nation and peace and prosperity of the nation. On behalf of the Embassy H.E. Ambassador paced floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later a cake was cut to mark the 101st Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation. Messages of Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister of Foreign Affairs received on this special occasion were read out by the senior officers of the Embassy.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand and Cambodia Mohammed Abdul Hye, in his speech, recalled the dreams of Bangabandhu to establish ‘Golden Bengal’ free from poverty, oppression and hunger and highlighted how the Government of Bangladesh under the leadership of daughter of Bangabandhu Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh has been translating those dreams into reality step by step. Ambassador Abdul Hye underscored the unprecedented socio-economic advancements achieved in different sectors including poverty reduction, education, health etc. during the last 12 years under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Ambassador also mentioned the success of the Government in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine rollout. He urged all expatriate Bangladeshis to help in transmitting the ideology of Bangabandhu to the next generation who will lead the country in future.

A webinar art exhibition was held in zoom platform in the afternoon in participation of the children of the Bangladesh community. They displayed their paintings on the theme of the day and participated in the discussion on their beloved leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They expressed their excitement in receiving book voucher as a prize for participating in the art exhibition.

Following the Magrib prayer Embassy organized a special prayer for the Father of the Nation at the Islamic Centre of Thailand where the President of the Islamic Foundation was present. The orphans of a local orphanage took part in the special prayer.
